Bahrain, an island nation nestled within the Persian Gulf, boasts a total area of just 778 square kilometres, making it one of Asia's smallest countries.
Despite its size, Bahrain packs a geographical punch with a 161-kilometre coastline. The highest point in this low-lying archipelago is Jabal ad-Dukhan, reaching a modest 134 metres. Interestingly, around 90% of Bahrain's population is urban, with Manama, the capital, holding its own as the home to roughly one-seventh of the entire nation.
The government of Bahrain operates as a constitutional monarchy, with a king as the head of state and a prime minister as the head of government. The King of Bahrain holds significant power, including appointing the Prime Minister and other key government officials. The current king is Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
